With both Queenstown activities located at the Main Town Pier, we make it easy for you to get your adrenaline fix as well as learn about Queenstown’s history and explore a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Step on board the Big Yellows at the Main Town Pier and get ready for thrills and stunning scenery as we blast you across Lake Wakatipu and down the Kawarau and Shotover Rivers.
After your Jet boat ride, take the stairs down to Time Tripper, Queenstown’s only underwater experience and our state-of-the-art animated show. Turn back time 90 million years, learn about the legend of Lake Wakatipu and what the region was like long before Lake Wakatipu was formed.
Conditions: Products must be booked together at the same time to receive combo deal. Minimum age 2 years old.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
- One hour Jet boat ride with KJet
- 30 minute Time Tripper experience under Lake Wakatipu, which includes a 15 minute show, and then 10-15 minutes of underwater viewing
DAILY DEPARTURES
KJet Combo departs from the Main Town Pier every hour on the hour 10am to 4pm. Please allow one hour 45 minutes for this combo experience.
You will need to check in for Time Tripper straight after your Jet boat ride at the Main Town Pier.
CHILDREN
Our child age is 5 – 14 years. Infants aged 2-4 years must sit on their caregivers knee. There must be one adult for every infant booked. Children and infants must be able to fit into one of our life jackets to ride KJet. Minimum age 2.

KJet Jet Boat Ride
Q. What should I wear on the Jet boat?
A. For your comfort we recommend that you dress for the weather conditions on the day, keeping in mind that in our boats you will be travelling at 95kph and therefore the wind-chill can be frosty! Don’t forget to bring a waterproof jacket, your sunglasses, (or goggles in winter) sunscreen, as well as hats & gloves in winter months. Please ensure your little ones are dressed especially warm.
Q. Can I take my bags on the Jet boat?
A. We are able to store backpacks or handbags. We do request that you please leave your valuables at home.
Q. Can I take my camera on the Jet boat?
A. On our trip there are many fantastic photo opportunities so YES, we’d love you to take your camera on board to capture these moments and share them. However, your camera is taken on board at your own risk, keep in mind with Jet boating there is the risk of getting slightly wet and we need you to be able to hold on to the hand rails, especially during our 360° spins. If you need more information about this please chat to our Reservations Team and Drivers when you check-in for your trip.
Q. Will I get wet on the Jet boat?
A. Part of the fun with Jet boating is the spray and drama! If you are really worried about getting wet then please request to our staff that you sit in the centre seats of the boat. Please note we can’t guarantee seating. We recommend you bring your own waterproof jacket.
Q. What is your child age?
A. Our child age is 5-14 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult to ride the Jet boat. Our Infant age is 2-4 years. There must be one adult for every infant booked.
Q. What are the weight/height restrictions to ride KJet?
A. Children – there is no height restriction to ride KJet. However, children must be able to fit into one of our life jackets. Adults – we do not have a weight restriction to ride KJet but you must be able to fit into one of our life jackets. We have a wide variety of life jackets available going up to a maximum size of 4XL.
Q. Can I ride KJet if I am pregnant?
A. Unfortunately, pregnant thrill-seekers are unable to ride KJet.
Q. Can you Jet boat in the winter?
A. Absolutely! We also have heated hand-rails to keep your hands toasty and warm.
Time Tripper
Q. Can you still see the fish?
A. Yes! The experience includes 15 minutes of underwater viewing where you can see the famous slinky eels, diving ducks and trout.
Q. Can I film the Time Tripper experience?
A. Just like a cinema, no filming or recording is permitted during the movie. However, you are free to take as many photos and videos once the screens are up. The slinky eels love smiling for the camera!
Q. Can I take food and drink?
A. No food or drink is permitted down in Time Tripper.
Q. It is wheelchair accessible?
A. Unfortunately, the Time Tripper experience is not wheelchair accessible as it is 5 metres below the water and accessed by two flights of stairs, however if a caregiver is able to carry you down and up two flights of stairs you are most welcome to come down!

Q. What if I want to experience Time Tripper at different time?
