MEDIA RELEASE FROM KJET, QUEENSTOWN
May 2016
TRENZ Booth # 2018
Queenstown’s original Jet boat company KJet is leaving a lasting impression with its guests thanks to the installation of a state-of-the-art video recording system across the fleet.
KJet – the world’s first commercial Jet boat company and Queenstown’s largest Jet boat operator – has recently fitted all eight boats with high-definition cameras. Mounted on the front and rear of the boats, the cameras capture the thrilling and scenic journey down the Shotover and Kawarau Rivers, as well as the reactions on guests’ faces.
The footage is combined with iconic and aerial shots into a complete edited video and available for purchase as either a web download or on a USB key.
“We’ve worked closely with leading photo and video solutions specialists, Magic Memories, to install this new system and it has added to our world-famous experience. Our guests love seeing their reactions during an exhilarating Hamilton spin or watching themselves soak up the incredible scenery after going on our river journeys,” KJet sales and marketing manager Ginny Goding says.
The investment of new cameras demonstrate KJet’s dedication to being an innovative, progressive company, Goding adds.
“We’ve been thrilling visitors for nearly 60 years and our highly-skilled team is passionate about offering the very best experience, every time.”

About KJet:
KJet offers the ultimate, high-speed, adrenalin packed Jet boating experience with two rivers and twice the excitement.
Established in 1958, KJet is the world’s first commercial Jet boat company offering hour-long trips along the Kawarau and Shotover Rivers and across Lake Wakatipu.
Covering 45km of river, with 360-degree spins, sheer rock faces and 360-degree views of the spectacular scenery, it is a unique activity offering the ultimate thrill for people of all ages.
Guests experience an hour of sheer power on the best boats in the district, with down-to-earth, friendly local drivers, who point out historic landmarks and native flora and fauna along the way. Jet boat trips traverse the crystal-clear Lake Wakatipu to the willow-lined Kawarau River with tight bends and towering rock cliffs, and the narrow river braids of the Shotover River.
Setting off from the Main Town Pier in the heart of Queenstown bay, the state-of-the-art Jet boats skim the waters while guests take in stunning alpine vistas.
The tradition of innovation is still in evidence – KJet pioneered twin-powered twin Jet units on the shallow braids of the Shotover River and still leads the way worldwide with development of twin engine boats through its research and development department.
KJet is still a Queenstown owned and operated business, 50% by Shaun Kelly since 1987, with Southern Discoveries owning the other 50%. As of April 11, 2016, Southern Discoveries’ new CEO is experienced tourism professional Tim Hunter.
